Inspection documents according to EN 10204
With the introduction of the current EN 10204:2004 (Metal products – Types of inspection documents) a number of things have changed in the field of inspection documents compared to the previous version. The most important change is the reduction of the number of different types of inspection documents:
- the 2.3 certificate has been deleted
- the 3.1.B certificate has been replaced by the 3.1 certificate
- the 3.1.A and 3.1.C as well as the 2.3 certificate of the previous version have been replaced by the 3.2 certificate
What remains are the following inspection documents:
- Factory Declaration 2.1
Document in which the manufacturer declares that the products delivered meet the requirements specified in the order, but in which no test results are included.
- Factory inspection certificate 2.2
Document in which the manufacturer declares that the delivered products meet the requirements specified in the order and in which he provides test results of inspections not otherwise prescribed. *
- Inspection report 3.1
Document in which the manufacturer declares that the delivered products meet the requirements set out in the order and in which he provides test results of further prescribed inspections. **
The inspection unit and the tests to be carried out are defined by the product specifications, the official regulations and the associated regulations and/or with the order. The document is declared valid by the authorized representative for the inspection of the manufacturer who is hierarchically independent of the production department.
- Inspection report 3.2
Document drawn up by both the authorized representative for inspection of the manufacturer - who is hierarchically independent from the production department - and the authorized representative for inspection of the buyer or the inspector appointed by official regulations. They declare in the inspection report that the delivered products meet the requirements of the order and in which the test results are provided.
* Inspection carried out by the manufacturer according to its own methods to investigate whether products with the same product specifications and resulting from the same production process meet the requirements set when ordering.
** inspection carried out before delivery in accordance with the product specifications on the products to be delivered or on the inspection units of the products to be delivered in order to check whether these products meet the requirements set when ordering. The inspection unit is specified per product in the relevant material standard.
