Euronorm EN 10357 is a new specific standard for austenitic, austenitic-ferritic and ferritic longitudinally welded stainless steel tubes for the dairy, food and chemical industries.

As of January 24, 2014, the well-known German standard DIN 11850 and all other national standards relating to these sectors have been replaced by the new European standard EN 10357.

The most important innovations are :

• valid for all countries within the European Union. This says much more than the national German standard DIN 11850
• de expansion of all stainless steel qualities included in EN 10028-7, including the following grades: 1.4003 - 1.4516 - 1.4520 - 1.4510 - 1.4513 - 1.4521 - 1.4526 -1.4509
• the designation of four-dimensional classes, series A to D, new qualities, specific tolerances and finishes
• the recording of the Dutch dairy sizes (dutch inches).

The designations for the execution and finish of the old DIN 11850 are adopted in the new standard for all series:

The tubes have a standard internal roughness value Ra ≤ 0,8 µm and Ra ≤ 1,6 µm in the weld area. However, Hollimex also supplies most tube dimensions according to the EHEDG guidelines with an internal roughness value Ra ≤ 0,8 µm and Ra ≤ 0,8 µm on the longitudinal seam.

Hollimex is pleased with this new European standard, and in particular with the inclusion of the Dutch dairy sizes. The German standard DIN 11850 will, however, continue to exist but is, as noted earlier, not a European standard. We will therefore increasingly encounter tubes with the marking EN10357 instead of DIN11850.
